Curriculum vitae (short version)
Professor Grothe received his doctorate at the Research Training Group for Risk Management at the University of Cologne (2008) and habilitated there in 2013. He holds university diplom degrees in physics and in business administration. He gained practical insights through his consulting work on quantitative risk management for energy suppliers.
Since 2015, he holds the Chair of Analytics and Statistics at KIT.
Since 2020, he is the faculty's dean of studies for the master's program in business mathematics.
Professor Grothe has numerous, interdisciplinary research interests at the interface between statistics and machine learning. His particular areas of focus include dependence structures in high-dimensional data and processes, risk measurement and financial market modeling, problems in medical statistics, and practically relevant questions related to energy markets and energy supply.
